- New office helps power business and daily life in Indonesia -
NOVEMBER 28, 2008/SINGAPORE - Invensys Process Systems (IPS), a global technology, software and consulting firm, today affirmed its commitment to Indonesia’s growing power, oil and gas industries with the opening of a new office in Jakarta that doubles and integrates the company’s sales, marketing, technical support and engineering forces in Indonesia.
Having secured major projects with several of Indonesia’s companies to automate power plants, refineries and oil and gas production plants, IPS has steadily increased its business operations in Indonesia over the last 35 years. This expansion will further enhance the company’s ability to provide effective solutions and services to support energy and utilities infrastructure to its growing client roster.
The emergence of new and upgraded power and production plants will improve the daily lives of Indonesians, where a significant portion of the world’s fourth most populous country still lives without electricity. The automation solutions IPS will provide to many of these power and production plants will also support Indonesia’s “10,000MW Crash Program,” a larger effort by the Indonesian government to ease the national power shortage by expanding Indonesia’s power generation capacity to 10,000MW by 2010.
While Indonesia works to address a projected 10 percent annual increase in power demand over the next six years, IPS will help address the issue through efficient power solutions.
“Our continuing diversification, as well as our expanding client network and new products and solutions for new industries, demonstrates our commitment to meeting Indonesia’s growing infrastructure needs,” said Mr. Lawrence Wee, President for IPS, Asia Pacific. “With the new capabilities in our new Jakarta office, IPS will develop and grow our operations in Indonesia, positioning ourselves for long-term, sustainable business growth in the automation market and strengthening our position as global industry leader.”
With 00 years of experience in process automation, IPS will continue developing and growing its Jakarta operations in line with Indonesia’s burgeoning energy and utility infrastructure demands. Some of IPS’ Indonesian customers include PT Pertamina Dumai Refinery, one of the country’s largest refinery with a capacity of 120 kbpd PT Kaltim Parna Industri, the largest ammonia producer in Indonesia; and PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja, the country’s second largest fertilizer plant.
As companies worldwide face rising energy, raw material and production costs, IPS solutions will help its clients improve energy efficiency, cost-competitiveness, safety and overall productivity. Amid growing concerns about global warming and climate change, IPS’ commitment to integrated energy and carbon management solutions also helps clients reduce carbon and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as energy costs.
Globally, IPS enables 70 percent of the world’s LNG production, 24 percent of its electricity production, 24 percent of its chemical production and 37 percent of its nuclear production – providing fuel, energy, light, power and healthcare to millions of people across 60 countries at 50,000 locations worldwide. Perennially recognized for its industry-leading performance, IPS was crowned 2008 Asia Pacific Safety Systems Company of the Year for worldwide penetration as the undisputed market leader in safety and critical control by Frost & Sullivan. Additionally, the company’s successful asset performance optimization solution was recently awarded the Asian Power Award for the Most Innovative Power Technology of the Year 2008.
